CABARRUS COUNTY

Consumers should fill out an application with Medicaid. Once this is submitted consumers can call 24 hours in advance to schedule a pick up. Appointments are available 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. Monday - Wednesday. Thursday and Friday are for urgent medical appointments only. There is no cost if the consumer has Medicaid. The NUMBER TO CALL FOR CONSUMERS (after they have filled out the MEDICAID application) is 704.920.2246. We also serve people 60+ and the blind. People 60+ will have to fill out applications from the Department of the Aged. Trip cancellations have to be called in 2 hours in advance to avoid penalty.
DAVIDSON COUNTY

Davidson county will transport within the city limits to the closest facilities. We require that the consumer first register with Medicaid. If the consumer is 60+ they will need to register with senior services. This is for medical appointments. If the consumer is not covered by Medicaid or Senior Services, they are still able to call and check availability on the day in which the service is needed. There may be a charge for transportation. The number to call TWO working days in advance is 336.242.2250 There is no cost to Medicaid Recipients or Senior Citizens if they have filled out the appropriate application.
ROWAN COUNTY

Consumers need to call 704.638.8645 to go over the application questions. The rules will be both read to them and sent by mail. If the consumer has their own car, they will receive reimbursement for miles driven to the doctor closest to their home. The consumer will be given a log to fill out for mileage. If the consumer does not have a car, the most cost effective transportation will be arranged and the consumer will receive a letter notifying them of what the transportation will be. Rowan County needs 7-10 days advance notice to arrange transportation. We request that consumers please be patient due to the amount of calls received daily.
STANLY COUNTY

Stanly county uses SCUSA (the public transportation system). If the consumer has full medicaid they will need to complete a 5047 with their Medicaid worker. The worker takes the form and forwards it to SCUSA. Once eligible, the consumer can go to medical appointments and pharmacies. Consumers need to call two days in advance to arrange for pick up, 704.986.3790, once enrolled. There is no fee for medicaid consumers who are enrolled. For those without medicaid, transportation is contingent upon their destination and if the bus is at full capacity. The cost is usually $1-3 per person.
UNION COUNTY

Union county transports to medical appointments. The Medicaid worker has to enroll the consumer for services. After this is done, the consumer can call 704.283.3713 for appointment within Union County. They typically need 48 hours notice, but if notice is not given, the consumer can still call to see if there is space available. Union also provides transportation to non-medicaid consumers for $1.00.
